Investigation and arrest may
be only the first steps in the criminal justice process. Thereafter, you

The specific procedures involved will depend on the circumstances of each
case.
If you are being investigated for or have been charged with a criminal offense, contacting a skilled criminal defense attorney should be the very first thing you do. You should not speak with anyone, including law enforcement, about your case until you have your attorney present. This is extremely important to preserve and protect your rights. Should your case require a jury trial, a skilled trial attorney can and will present your case to a jury in the best possible light. If appropriate under the circumstances, you and your attorney may also negotiate a settlement of your case, which could result in a lesser sentence or consequence.
